For independent wine & spirits shops

You didn't fall for wine to end up doing inventory math at midnight.

BlueTurtleLive runs quietly underneath whatever POS you already use, so the hours you get back go back to the parts of this business only you can do — the pour, the story, the bottle nobody else found first.

Works alongside any POS — connect once, nothing to switch or re-upload.

MORNING BRIEFING
Auto-playing preview — illustrative, not real store data
Why this exists

The shop you pictured, and the Tuesday you actually got

The shop you pictured

A regular walks in Friday at six, already certain you'll have something she hasn't tried. You pour her the Grüner nobody else on the block is carrying yet. She buys three bottles and tells two friends. This is why you did this.

The Tuesday you actually got

The Sancerre she loves sold out nine days ago — you find out when she asks. Forty cases of a seltzer nobody's touched since spring are still stacked in the back, tying up cash and hogging basement space you can't afford to waste in this city — space that could be holding the Grüner instead. You spend the evening squinting at a spreadsheet that was already wrong by Wednesday.

That gap — between the shop in your head and the Tuesday you actually got — is the whole reason BlueTurtleLive exists.

What this actually catches

Illustrative example — the kind of gaps BlueTurtleLive's Store Checkup is built to surface for an independent wine & spirits shop
21%

of a shop's best-selling wines can sit out of stock at once, quietly — tens of thousands in revenue at risk with no one flagging it.

$50k+

in cash — and the shelf or basement space it's tying up — can sit frozen in slow-moving stock at once, room and capital you could put toward better-selling wine instead.

10.1%

is the median gap between the cheapest and the dearest posting of the same bottle — across the 23,260 wines more than one distributor is selling in New York this month.

The 10.1% is measured from New York’s September 2026 posting and moves month to month. The other two are illustrative of the patterns BlueTurtleLive’s Store Checkup is built to surface — not data from a specific store. Actual results vary by shop.
Why BlueTurtleLive

Your rep sells one book. New York posts all 548.

We read the whole price list. You read the page your rep sends you.

New York publishes every licensed distributor’s wholesale price a month before you pay it. We read all of it, every month, against the wines actually on your shelf — not a sample, not just your top sellers. The whole posting, including the parts nobody sends you.

548 distributors 200,000 wines & spirits 348,000 offers this month 182,000 quantity deals 3,400 mixed cases 2,600 closeouts 17,000 allocated bottles

And we know which of them are yours.

Matching the state’s list to your own catalogue is the hard part — barcodes reach under 1% of it. We match on name, producer, size and vintage, so the price you are shown is for the bottle you actually stock.

Your POS tells you what happened.

This tells you what to do Monday. Every number arrives with the next move attached, in plain English, linked straight to the screen that acts on it.

Nothing moves until you say so.

No order placed, no email sent, no price changed. Every suggestion waits for your yes. A light, not a lever.

Counts are from New York’s September 2026 posting and move month to month.
What's on the list

Everything your POS was never built to tell you

Twenty-two tools, in six places you’d actually look. Start with whichever one is keeping you up.

What's next

On the way to the Cellar

Shipping to Founding Cellar members first — and shaped by what you tell us you need.

Coming soon

Buy now, or wait

A quantity threshold can move underneath a price that never changes — the same $11.99 a bottle, but ten cases to get it instead of one. We’ll catch that before you commit to the bigger order.

Coming soon

Reports on a schedule

The reports you open every month, built and emailed the morning they’re ready — so the read on your shop arrives whether or not you remembered to go and look.

Coming soon

Pin a market find into the order

A wine you don’t stock yet, spotted on the posted list — added to your catalogue and dropped straight into this week’s order, competing for the same budget as everything else you were going to buy.

How it works

A rhythm, not a project

One is how you'll use it every day. The other is the one-time part of getting there.

How your week runs

  • Every morning — a plain-language briefing: what's about to run out, what moved overnight, what needs a decision today.
  • Every week — reorder decisions ranked by what you'd actually lose if it sold out, capped to what you can afford to spend.
  • Every month — a full Store Checkup, with a specific action plan linked straight to the tool that carries it out.

How you get started

  • Connect — link your POS once through a read-only integration; BlueTurtleLive pulls sales, transactions, and inventory automatically from then on, and can never modify anything in your POS.
  • We clean it up — messy, free-text POS data gets mapped and normalized before it reaches your dashboard, with anything uncertain flagged in a data-quality exception report.
  • You're live — your first morning briefing arrives the next day. No IT project, no consultants.

Built to answer a problem I heard about for years — not invent one to sell

BlueTurtleLive didn't start in a product meeting. It started with an independent wine shop owner telling me, more than once, about the same frustration: never quite knowing what was about to run out, watching cash sit frozen in stock that wasn't moving, and not having the hours in a day to catch either one before it cost real money. Every POS he'd tried rang up sales just fine — none of them told him what to do next. I'm Bobby Zhou, and that conversation is the reason BlueTurtleLive exists.

BlueTurtleLive doesn't replace what you already run — it sits on top of it, reads the same data your register already has, and tells you plainly what needs your attention. That's why it opens with a morning briefing in plain language, not a pivot table.

We're inviting a small group of independent wine & spirits shops to join the Founding Cellar right now — real stores, real data, direct input into what we build next. Join the Founding Cellar and help us get it right.

Common questions

FAQ

New York publishes these prices. Why do I need you?

The state runs a lookup — one product at a time, and you have to already know what to ask for. BlueTurtleLive reads the whole monthly posting, all 548 distributors, and matches it to the wines actually in your catalogue. That matching is the hard part: barcodes reach under 1% of the list, so the rest is done on name, producer, size and vintage. What comes back is not a search box — it is this week’s order, with the cheaper line already in it.

Do I need to replace my POS?

No — BlueTurtleLive connects to whatever POS you already use and pulls your data automatically from then on. Nothing changes on your end, and there's nothing to re-export or re-upload.

My POS data is messy — does that matter?

It's normal, not a problem. Most POS systems (Shopify included) hand back a lot of free-text fields instead of clean, structured data. BlueTurtleLive maps and normalizes product, category, and region information automatically before it reaches your dashboard — and anything it isn't confident about gets flagged in a data-quality exception report rather than silently guessed at.

What is the Founding Cellar?

It's our name for what most software calls a beta — a small group of independent wine & spirits shops using BlueTurtleLive on real, day-to-day data, and telling us directly what's working and what isn't, before we open it up more broadly.

What does it cost?

We're finalizing pricing with our first stores in the Founding Cellar. Join now and you'll have direct input into what that pricing looks like, plus founding-store terms once we launch.

What happens to my store's data?

Your data stays yours, and it stays yours alone — every store gets its own dedicated database, so nothing is ever pooled or stored alongside another store's data. BlueTurtleLive connects through a read-only integration: we pull your sales, inventory, and transaction records, but we can never modify, overwrite, or delete anything inside your POS. Some features — like spotting repeat-customer patterns — use customer records your POS already has, but that data stays inside your store's own database; it's never shared with other stores or sold. Everything is encrypted at rest and in transit. As we grow, we may build anonymized market benchmarks across our network — aggregated across many stores so no individual store's numbers can be identified, and you can opt out of being included at any time. If you ever leave the Founding Cellar, your historical data and connection are permanently deleted from our servers on request.

How long does setup take?

We connect your POS and get your product and inventory data mapped correctly — no IT project or consultants required on your side. Once it's linked, it stays current on its own.
